Filmmakers Curt Ellis and Ian Cheney kicked off the 2010 Muddy Boot Organic Festival with an inspiring keynote address. The festival featured nearly 70 vendors and exhibitors, well attended workshops and panel discussions, live music, kid-friendly activities and local food and wine. The 2009 event began with a keynote address by respected author, environmental advocate and educator Bill McKibben, cofounder of 350.org, and featured a lively, well-attended panel discussion with Portland Mayor Sam Adams regarding the city's Climate Action Plan. Update on our Minimal Waste Plan: Muddy Boot was able to capture 92% of all the festival waste and divert this from landfills. 29% of this amount was turned into compost at Cedar Grove and 71% was recycled! Thanks to all the recycling volunteers, and all the exhibitors who helped follow our waste prevention plan! We are getting closer to zero waste!
